Atlanta Gas Light announced over $500,000 in financial support to local nonprofits that assist families with paying their natural gas marketer bills.

Atlanta, GA – Dec. 17, 2025 – With energy usage rising across the state due to falling temperatures, Atlanta Gas Light has announced over $500,000 of new funding to support community partners that help Georgia residents facing financial hardship.

Annually, Atlanta Gas Light hosts the ‘Energy to Give’ agency partner event that underscores its dedication to helping communities become more resilient by providing critical funding to support families in need of bill payment assistance. The event brings nonprofit organizations from across the state to strengthen its long-standing commitment to help ensure all Georgians can safely, reliably, and affordably heat their homes during the coldest months of the year. Representatives from Heating Energy Assistance (HEAT), HopeWorks, Saint Vincent de Paul Georgia, The Salvation Army, and United Way 211 attended the event.

Walt Farrell, President and CEO of Atlanta Gas Light, commented, “Our commitment to customers and communities extends beyond just delivering gas. ‘Energy to Give’ reflects the power of partnership.”

The funds presented by Atlanta Gas Light will be distributed among the community partners represented at the event, all of which specialize in emergency utility assistance and supporting households with basic needs during financial hardship.
“Requests for financial assistance are at their highest during winter months,” said Tiffany Gilstrap, Manager of Credit, Collections, and Energy Assistance at Atlanta Gas Light. “By uniting with agency partners, we’re not just helping customers pay their natural gas marketer bills, we’re ensuring homes stay warm and families feel supported when it matters most.”
Over the past five years, Atlanta Gas Light has donated $2.8M to support bill payment assistance, and other resources, to continue strengthening the communities they serve.
In addition to providing funding, Atlanta Gas Light continues to promote its bill payment assistance resources to connect customers to partnering agencies that can assist them. Customers can learn more at atlantagaslight.com/billpayassistance.
